Privacy Policy — Vryionics VR Optimization Suite

1. TL;DR

VOS is a local-first application. Scans run entirely on your PC. No telemetry is sent without your explicit consent. When you export a scan to share on a forum, a redacted mode strips Wi-Fi SSID/BSSID, user paths, MACs, and emails.

2. Introduction

Vryionics VR Optimization Suite ("VOS", "we", "our", "us") is a Windows desktop application developed by Vryionic that diagnoses PC-VR performance bottlenecks and applies reversible fixes. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what we don't collect, and how the small amount of data that does leave your PC is handled.

3. What VOS Collects Locally

When you run a scan, VOS collects the following on your local machine and stores it in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Vryionics VR Optimization Suite under your user profile. This data never leaves your PC unless you explicitly export or report:

CPU model, core count, base/boost frequency, temperatures, V-Cache presence
GPU model, VRAM, driver version, boost clocks, PCIe gen and lane count
RAM size, channel configuration, XMP state
Storage drive models, types (SSD/HDD/NVMe), free space
Wi-Fi chipset, band (2.4/5/6 GHz), BSSID, retransmit and UDP error counts
Motherboard chipset, BIOS version
OS build, power plan, MMCSS state, HPET, timer resolution
Running processes (bucketed: VR-critical / overlays / tracking / streaming / anti-cheat / RGB / bloat)
Installed VR tools (SteamVR, Oculus, Virtual Desktop, Pico, ALVR, Bigscreen)
Event log error counts
Headset connection state

4. What VOS Does NOT Collect

Keyboard input or keystrokes
Microphone or camera data
Browsing history or bookmarks
Files or folder contents (only metadata like size and free space)
Credentials, saved passwords, or browser autofill
Any data from VR games beyond process name detection

5. What Leaves Your PC (Optional)

5.1 Bug Reports

If you submit a bug report via the in-app form, you can opt in (via checkboxes) to attach any combination of:

System info (OS, CPU, RAM, Electron / Node / Chromium versions)
Latest scan data
Applied fix history
Recent app log (last 500 lines)

The report bundle is encoded into a pre-filled GitHub Issue URL and opened in your default browser. Submission goes through GitHub Issues using your own GitHub account — you click "Submit" on the GitHub page; nothing is transmitted automatically. A copy of the bundle is saved locally to %APPDATA%\vryionics-vr-optimization-suite\bug-reports\ so you can drag-and-drop it in if it exceeds GitHub's URL length limit. (The earlier Discord-webhook delivery path was removed in v0.2.8.)

5.2 Auto-Updater

VOS polls the public GitHub repository every 2 minutes to check for new releases. This exposes your IP address to GitHub (standard HTTPS request headers) but no other identifying information — the request is unauthenticated, no GitHub PAT is shipped in the installer (removed in v0.2.7). Installer downloads are SHA-512 verified before applying.

6. Redacted Export

When you export a scan report as HTML to share on a forum or Discord, VOS offers a Redacted mode that strips: Wi-Fi SSID and BSSID, user profile paths, MAC addresses, email addresses, and computer name. The redacted report retains everything needed to diagnose the issue without exposing identifying data.

7. Data Storage & Security

Scan history, fix history, and preferences are stored locally on your machine under %APPDATA%\vryionics-vr-optimization-suite\. The auto-updater uses HTTPS with certificate validation and verifies installer downloads against the SHA-512 published in the release's latest.yml; if no hash is present, the install is refused outright.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

With your explicit consent (e.g. bug report attachments)
To comply with legal obligations or law enforcement requests
To protect the rights, property, or safety of Vryionic or our users

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you (typically none, unless you have submitted bug reports)
Request deletion of any server-side data (bug reports)
Withdraw consent for data processing at any time by uninstalling VOS
Export your local VOS configuration and scan history

11. Children's Privacy

VOS is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced via the Vryionic Discord server. Your continued use of VOS after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
